Meet Dr. Patrick Lonergan

Dr. Patrick Lonergan was born and raised in New Orleans. He is one of 9 children and knows the pressure of parents striving to provide the best for their families and kids. Growing up he attended Resurrection, Brother Martin high school, and Louisiana State University. While at LSU in Baton Rouge, Dr. Pat graduated with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and also played football for the Tigers during the years 1976-1978. Following his time at LSU in Baton Rouge, Dr. Lonergan returned to New Orleans to attend LSU School of Dentistry and graduated in 1986.

Following graduation from the LSU dental program, Dr. Lonergan began practicing with Dr. Vincent Ciolino. Just a few years later, Dr. Lonergan purchased the practice and has been practicing in the Metairie and New Orleans area since. Dr. Lonergan’s favorite part of what he does is educating and encouraging patients to take proper and adequate care of their oral cavity, both at home and when there is a need for professional treatment. When there is need for treatment, Dr. Pat expects the patients to be a large part of the final treatment plan. The patients appreciate the way he includes their input into their treatment options. Dr. Lonergan’s care for his patients comes from his enjoyment in the variety of general dentistry. He loves being able to do a little bit of everything from restorative crowns, bridges, fillings, and implant crowns to endodontic therapy. 

Dr. Lonergan has been married to his beautiful wife Cheryl for over 30 years. They have two children who also live in the area. His oldest son P.J. followed in his dad’s footsteps by also playing football for the LSU Tigers. His youngest daughter Molly followed in her dad’s footsteps by staying in the dental field as a dental hygienist. When Dr. Lonergan is not practicing dentistry, he’s going fishing and fishing and even more fishing. He is madly in love with his beautiful wife and wonderful family. There is never a day that goes by that he doesn’t thank the good Lord for all of them.
